7 get death for murder
A court in Gazipur on Monday convicted seven people and awarded them death penalty in a case filed for killing a trader.
The District and Sessions Judge Court also sentenced another convict five years of rigorous imprisonment.
The condemned convicts are: Razib Hossain Raju, M Quayyum, M Razib Hossain, M Farooque Hossain, M Shafiqul Islam, Ali Hossain and Mohammad Ali alias Chhoto Ali.
Mohammad Masum alias Mama Masum was given five years' RI.
The court, however, acquitted two more accused in the case.
According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked trader Milon Bhuiyan to death near the gate of Bhawal National Park in the evening of February 26, 2011.
After examining the record and witnesses, judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the judgment in presence of seven convicts.
