Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed has directed the senior police officials to enforce the lockdown at different places of the united states strictly to prevent coronavirus infection.

He also directed to implement the lockdown properly. Besides, he said the movement of folks on roads should be curtailed.

The IGP also called upon people to stay beside people. Besides, misbehave with people and torture on them shouldn't be allowed in any way. 

IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed gave the directives while speaking with the senior officials of all the ranges, metropolitan and specialised units of Bangladesh Police through a video conference on Saturday.

He also advised the authorities officials to make sure shifting of markets in open spaces or footpaths maintaining adequate social distancing. As well, one-way movement of individuals in the markets should be ensured so that minimum 20 feet distance is maintained. Gossiping at the roadside tea stalls must be controlled.

The IGP also laid focus on monitoring the costs of essentials in the markets coordinating with the deputy commissioners, and local administration in order that none can stock goods or raise their prices. Transportation of essential commodities ought to be kept normal.

He also said police would play a solid role to check on irregularities over the federal government relief and distribution of OMS rice. If necessary, they need to strengthen their monitoring.

Besides, police must work for the welfare of the force. Highest priority ought to be given to the treatment if any police personnel become sick during their duties amid ongoing coronavirus situation.
