IGP for checking papers of bus, driver at terminals
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary on Sunday has instructed to check drivers’ driving licenses and fitness papers of buses before leaving the terminals to ensure safety of Eid holidaymakers.
He also ordered a zero-tolerance against extortion on roads and highways across the country ahead of the home-going rush in Eid.
The IGP also instructed police officials to boost up security at markets and shopping malls, preventing extortion and not allowing passengers on trucks, pickups and goods-laden vehicles.
Javed Patwary came up with the directives to his officers of all metropolitan and ranges through videoconferencing from police headquarters.
The boss of police also instructed to ensure security to prevent sabotage on railways, including stone throwing towards running trains and stopping overcrowding on the waterways.
He ordered to ensure security at National Eidgah, Sholakia of Kishoreganj, and other central Eid Jamaats in the division and district levels.
The IGP also ordered to ensure the security of residential areas, banks and financial institutions, gold shops, among others, during the Eid holidays.
Javed Patwary instructed police officials concerned to ensure security of important mega projects and increase security at foreign diplomatic missions and establishments and foreign citizens during eid holidays.
