No fear to celebrate Buddha Purnima: IGP
Dismissing any thought of fear, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary assured of all-out security measures across the country on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
IGP came up the assurance for Buddhist community during a meeting at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday (May 14).
Dr Javed Patwary said intelligence agencies were instructed to take necessary steps to monitor social media making sure that no groups or vested quarters can spread rumors or confusion centering on Buddha Purnima.
Apart from police in regular uniform, all units of police including ones in plain-clothes were asked to increase vigilance, he said.
Police officers, Javed Patwary also said, were instructed to visit every Buddhist temple.
Additional IGP (A & O) Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Benazir Ahmed were present among others there.
