Lightning strikes kill seven in Netrokona
Seven persons were killed and nine others hurt by lightning strikes in Netrokona district on Tuesday afternoon.
Two were killed in Kendua upazila while two in Madan and three in Khaliajuri.
The deceased are determined as Md. Bayazid Mia, of Bairati village of Paikura union of Kendua upazila, Md. Fazlur Rahman, of Kundli village of Kandiura union, Achek Mia son of Khelu Fakir of Jagannathpur village of Mendipur union of Khaliajuri upazila, Bipul Mia son of Amir Sarkar of the same village, Monir Hossain son of Manjurul Haque of Batuail village, Hafeez Mohammad son lately Abdul Quader of West Fatehpur village of Madan upazila. Sharif and Maulana Atabur Rahman, son of the late Abdul Mannaf of the same village.
Among the injured, five persons were in Khaliajuri and four in Madan.
The incidents occurred around 3:15 pm, said Netrokona Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munshi.
