Lightning kills 13 in 5 districts
At least 13 people were killed in separate lightning strikes in five districts of the country amid adverse weather Saturday (July 13).

In Sunamganj, 45-year-old Haridul and his 10-year-old son Tara Mia were killed as a thunderbolt struck them while they were fishing in Boulai river in Tahirpur upazila, in the morning.

Tahirpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Arif Rabbani confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

In Pabna, 50-year-old farmer Motalib Sarder and his two sons Farid Sarder, 20, and Sharif Sarder, 17 and neighbor Rohom Pramanik, 60 were killed as a thunderbolt struck them while they were washing jute sticks in a pond in Panchuria village under Bera upazila at noon.

Bera Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Ariful Islam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

In Rajshahi, 55-year-old farmer Durul Huda was killed as a thunderbolt struck him while he was planting paddy saplings in a field, in Godagari upazila, in afternoon.

Matikata Union Parishad Chairman Mohammad Ali confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

In Mymensingh, 22-year-old Choit Koch was killed when a thunderbolt stuck him when he along with his brother was fishing in a water body in Fulbaria upazila, at noon.

In two separate incidents of lightning strike, 40-year-old farmer Jamal Uddin and 24-year-old Sohag Mia were killed in Phulpur upazila of the same district.

Phulpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jebunnahar Shammi confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

In Chuadanga, three labors--Al Amin, 30, Huda, 32, and Hamidul, 35 were killed as a thunderbolt struck them while they were loading a truck with bananas in Alfadanga upazila of Chuadanga, in the afternoon.

Chuadanga Sadar Hospital physician Sonia Ahmed confirmed the matter to media.
