JU students, teachers on movement defying ban
Although most of the general students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) left the campus following shut down for an indefinite period, demonstrating teachers and students again on Thursday took position in front of the old administrative building defying the restriction on holding rally and processions.

As part of the decision to continue the movement, agitating teachers and students started gathering around 10am.

On Wednesday Chhatra Front general secretary Sudipta Dev vowed to continue the movement till the removal of vice-chancellor Prof Farzana Islam.

In face of student movement, the authorities on Tuesday closed JU for an indefinite period and asked the students to vacate halls.

It also banned holding all kinds of meeting and procession on the campus.

The university authorities have already stopped providing all facilities to the students.

JU teachers and students have been demonstrating for last three months for the VC's removal over an allegation against Prof Farzana Islam regarding bribing to leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
