Jatrabari mango traders fined Tk 24 lakh
A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) fined nine mango traders in Jatrabari here Tk 24 lakh on charge of ripening the popular summer fruit with chemicals.
Department of Agriculture (DOE), Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) cooperated in the drive led by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam.
The fruit hoarders in Jatrabari were selling the mangoes after ripening those with chemicals. As many as 400 maunds of the mangoes were destroyed in the drive, said Sarwar Alam.
