Ctg rape accused killed in 'shootout' with RAB
A young man, who was the lone accused in a case over raping a schoolgirl in Lohagara upazila of Chattogram, has been killed in a reported shootout with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) early Monday (April 28).
The shootout took place at North Amirabad area of Lohagara around 4:30am.
Two arms and 24 rounds of bullet were recovered from the spot.
RAB-7 Media officer Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Mashkur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
Deceased Saiful Islam, 27, was a resident of East Muhuri Para area of North Amirabad. He owned a coaching center where the girl studied.
The victim's mother filed the rape case with Lohagara Police Station on April 15.
As per the case statement, on April 12, Saiful raped the girl at her residence after tying her hands and legs while the residence was vacant.
