Govt trying to create extrajudicial killings portion of national culture: Fakhrul
The ruling Awami League government has taken an initiative to create enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings a part of the national culture, alleged BNP Secretary Standard Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday.
In a statement, the BNP head said, "The Awami Group government which includes grabbed the power has already reached the final level of fascism. All varieties of initiatives have already been taken to make enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, abduction, extortion and occupation a part of the national culture."
Mirza Fakhrul issued the statement in protest against sending 30 Chattogram Metropolis BNP leaders and activists to jail.
The BNP Secretary Standard said the federal government has sent the BNP leaders and activists to jail implicating them in false cases to hide its failures in the wake of growing rise in prices of essentials, gas, electricity and water.
"It's the continuity of the policy of repression of an anti-people government. But, persons have grown to be united to bring a finish to a myriad of misdeeds and misrule. The against the law rule can collapse at any time unless the energy is handed over to persons," he said.
Mirza Fakhrul said the government has resorted to the practice of denying bail to the BNP leaders and activists implicating them found in false and fabricated cases.
The BNP Secretary Standard further alleged that the BNP leaders and personnel were being sent to jail implicating them in false cases to get rid of BNP from the country.
He as well demanded immediate let go of the Chattogram BNP leaders and employees and withdrawal of circumstances filed against them.
