Gang-rape accused found dead
Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a youth, accused in a gang-rape case, from a hill at Economic Zone in Anwara upazila of Chattogram early Sunday.
Deceased Abdun Nur, 25, was the prime accused of the case, police said. He was the son of Abdus Sattar, a resident of Bairag area in the uapzila.
Anwara Police Station OC Dulal Mahmud suspect that Abdun Nur might have been killed by his rival.
On June 3, Abdun Nur and three others violated a teenage girl at Choumuhoni area while she was returning home from Karnaphuli Shoes Industries Ltd, her workplace. Later, the rapists left her in a critical condition.
Being informed, the victim's family members rescued the girl and rushed her to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
