Feni AL leader expelled for assisting defendant
Feni's Sadar upazila Awami League has expelled a leader advocate Kazi Bulbul Sohag for providing legal assistance to the accused in the case filed for torching madrasha student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
Kazirbagh union AL general secretary Sohag is also Kazirbagh UP chairman.
Feni Sadar upazila AL president advocate Noor Hossain confirmed the matter .
Earlier in the day, Noor Hossain said the decision to expel Sohag was taken at a meeting of the upazila committee on Wednesday.
Earlier on April 6, Nusrat Jahan Rafi, an Aleem examinee from Sonagazi Fazil Madrasha, was set on fire allegedly by some fellows as she refused to withdraw a case filed against the madrasha principal for sexual harassment.
She died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday night.
Police have, so far, arrested 12 persons in connection with the incident. Of them, a number of accused, including the madrasha principal, were taken on remand.
