Feni madrasa principal suspended
Maulana Siraj Uddaula who is the principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa was suspended in connection with setting fire on a female student of the madrasa.
The decision came up from an emergency meeting, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Feni PKM Enamul Karim, of governing body of the madras on Sunday (April 7).
The decisions issued from the meeting are as follows:
1: A donation of Taka 2 lakhs to be given to the student for treatment from Madrasa fund and teachers.
2. All types of assistance on behalf of Madrasa to arrest the miscreants, who torched the student, and to hand them over to police.
3. Setting up CCTV for madrasa security.
4. Senior madrasa teacher to be given duty of acting principal.
5. Class activities to be closed down during Alim examination.
6. upazila administration to be urged for exam center security.
Madrasa governing president Ruhul Amin, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Nurul Amin, the governing members, three representatives from teachers and two guardians were present in the meeting.
On Saturday morning (April 6), a student went to the exam center at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa.
Later, some students, who are loyal to the principal of the madrasa, took her to the roof and set fire on her, according to brother of the victim.
At her screaming, locals, students and teachers took her to hospital.
She is now undergoing treatment at the emergency burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
“70-80 percent of that student’s body has already been burnt,” Bacchu Miah, in-charge at DMCH police outpost, told Banglanews.
Prior to her arrival at DMCH around 3 pm, the victim underwent treatment at upazila health complex then at Feni Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi Model Police Station Moazzem Hossain Khan said they heard of the incident. Action will be taken after investigation.
On March 27, police arrested Principal Maulana Siraj Uddaula for sexually assaulting the student in his room at the Madrasa.
Following the incident, a portion of the students staged human chain and demanded release of the principal.
On the other hand, another portion of the students also formed human chain demanding his punishment.
