Ex-MP Rana freed from jail after 34 months
Former Awami League lawmaker from Tangail-3 Amanur Rahman Khan Rana was freed from jail passing 34 months behind the bars in a case filed in connection with the killings of two Jubo League men.
He walked out of Tangail district jail around 8:45am on Tuesday amid tight security around the prison.
Tangail jail super Abul Bashar said that they received the papers from High Court and Supreme Court on Monday night.
Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court order that granted bail to Rana in the case.
Baghil union Jubo League leaders Mohammad Shamim and Mohammad Mamun went missing on July 16, 2012 in Tangail district town.
The following day, Shamim's mother filed a general diary with Tangail Sadar police station.
Later, police arrested several suspects over the incident when two of them revealed murder of the Jubo League men at MP Rana's instruction.
