DU protesters announce to go back to class
After six consecutive days' protests seeking cancellation of seven colleges' affiliation with Dhaka University, the university students have announced to go back to class, following assurance from administration.
Spokesman of the protesters and student of Management Department Shakil Mia called off their protests at a press conference on the university campus on Thursday afternoon.
He told reporters, "We welcome the committee formed by university administration to resolve seven colleges' affiliation crisis. We have come back from the class-exam boycott programme getting assurance from the authorities."
"But our other programmes will continue. We will fix our next programme, keeping authorities' assurance under observation," Shakil Mia added.
The spokesman also announced to give memorandum to President on Sunday with this demand.
The DU authorities on Wednesday formed a 11-member committee to give effective recommendations in resolving the problem about the affiliation of seven colleges.
The committee has also been asked to submit recommendations by 10 working days.
