Dhaka-5 by-polls: Plying of motorcycles banned for 3 days
The Election Commission has imposed a bar on vehicular movement in the Dhaka-5 constituency prior to the election to be held on October 17.
SM Asaduzzaman, public relation director of the EC, said a circular has been issued in this regard.
As per the circular, motorcycles will not be permitted to operate in the constituency for three days from 12am on October 16.
Meanwhile, the movement of trucks and pickups in addition has been banned every day and night from 12 am on October 17, Asaduzzaman said.
The ban will be relaxed for local or foreign journalists within the election, election officials, law-enforcement, authorised election observers and vehicles used for emergency services such as ambulances, fire service, electricity, gas, post and telecommunication will be kept out of this purview.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Habibur Rahman Molla on, may 6.
