Dhaka-bound Saudi flight diverted to India due to medical emergency
Ahmedabad, India : A Saudi Airlines flight from Riyadh to Dhaka had to make an emergency landing due to a medical reason in on July 16.
A Dhaka-bound flight of Saudi Arabian airlines made an emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport because of an inflight medical emergency as one of its passengers named Nazir Ahmed Runa (38) was unconscious onboard.
As soon as the Saudia pilot intimated the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Ahmedabad, a priority landing slot was provided by the airport officials. The aircraft landed at 7.10 pm and an ambulance with a cardio specialist was waiting at parking Stand 36. As soon as the flight landed, the passenger was attended by the medicos. While the patient was still undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad, the aircraft departed for Dhaka.
Earlier, in May 21, a Dhaka-bound Saudi Arabian Airlines flight, which was travelling from Madinah to Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, was diverted to Jeddah after malfunction of the nose landing gear.
The Airbus A330-200 made an emergency landing at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz Airport with the nose gear retracted. The plane suffered considerable damage, but passengers were evacuated via emergency slides and no injuries have been reported so far.
