Citizens call for enacting food security act
A citizen dialogue held with participants of upcoming general election about views of enacting and implementing food security act in election manifesto of the political parties.
Development organization Right to Food Bangladesh, Barishal district unit organized the programme at Ashwini Kumar Hall of the city.
Anwar Zahid, Barishal district unit president of Right to Food Bangladesh, presided over the programme.
Among others, Mohila Parishad Barishal unit president Rabeya Khatun, city AL president Golam Abbas Chowdhury Dulal, divisional organizing secretary of BNP Bilkis Jahan Shirin, JaPa candidate for Barishal-5 AKM Mortuza Abedin, and democratic left alliance candidate for Barishal-5 Prof. Abdus Sattar attended the programme as special guests.
Besides, Advocate Hironkumar Das Mithu, district president of Ganoforum, Principal Mizanur Rahman, secretary of district CPB, Shahjahan Haoladar, acting president of JSD also were present in the programme.
In the dialogue, participants said that enactment and implementation of Right to Food Act needed to ensure food rights of 3.55 crore poor and ultra-poor people of the country.
All of them, expressed their solidarity with this view and called the political parties and parliament members for passing and implementation of that promised act urgently.
