Case filed over rape of DU student
A case has been filed against some unidentified persons on Monday for allegedly raping a Dhaka University student in the city’s Kurmitola area on Sunday night.
Victim’s father filed the case with Cantonment Police Station on Monday morning, said the thana OC Kazi Shahan Huq.
A female student of Dhaka University was reportedly raped by an unknown man in Dhaka’s Kurmitola area on Sunday evening.
According to police and her fellow classmates, the girl left the campus in a DU bus for Khilkhet's Sheora area and got down from it in Kurmitola around 7pm.
As she got off the bus at the Kurmitola area, some unidentified men held her mouth and she got unconscious. Later she was raped and tortured. She got conscious around 10:00 pm finding herself at a lonely place.
Taking a CNG driven three-wheeler, the girl went to her friend’s house and told her about the incident.
Being informed, her classmates took the victim to the DU campus and then admitted her to DMCH after Sunday midnight.
The victim was taken to One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of DMCH and Medical examination of will be conducted on Monday morning, Bacchu Mia told the daily sun.
However, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman visited the victim this morning.
He later told the journalists that law enforcers were requested to look into it and bring the rapist to book.
“Hospital authority will give her all out treatment including mental support for recovering from the trauma,” the VC added.
Dhaka University students have been staging demonstration on their campus Monday protesting the rape.
