A BNP-backed prospect who was simply unofficially elected councillor in a Sirajganj sadar municipal election on Saturday was murdered by his rival group when he brought out victory procession at night.

The 45-year-old Md Tariqul Islam Khan succumbed to his stab injuries at an exclusive medical center in Sirajganj town at about 8:15pm.

It had been learnt that he was a BNP-backed candidate. Before at about 7:30pm, critically injured Tariqul was rushed to the hospital's emergency division where he died of his multiple stab accidents.

Tariqul Islam Khan was the son of Abdul Quddus Khan of Natun Bhangabari Moholla of the town. He stood for basic councilor content from Ward No. 6 under Sirajganj Municipality in the Saturday's election and received by 85 votes contesting with the election symbol of 'Pomegranate.'

Meanwhile, an extremely tense problem and unusual clam have already been prevailing in the complete Sirajganj town following brutal murder.

Sirajganj Sadar Law enforcement Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Bahauddin Faruqi said councilor prospect Tariqul Islam was elected unofficially with the 'Pomegranate' symbol which was held on Saturday. Pursuing his success, his supporters brought out a victory procession in the region soon after the evening. In those days, the supporters of the defeated councilor prospect attacked the procession, which led to a violent clash between your two rival groups. Through the clash, killers repeated stabbed Tariqul on different places of his human body. Critically hurt Tariqul Islam Khan was rushed to a nearby private hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead. 

OC Bahauddin Faruqi even more said police took the problem very seriously. Riot police personnel have already been deployed to keep law and buy, and prevent any sort of clash in the region.
