Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's self-confessed condemned killer Capt (dismissed) Abdul Majed was hanged at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj at 12:01am today (Sunday).

The 72-year-old Majed was hanged following the hangman put a particular kind of rope around his neck, jail sources said. Afterward, the hangman carried out his loss of life by hanging him. Your body was placed hanging for quite a while. Then the human body was brought down.

Later, the Dhaka district's civil surgeon confirmed his death by cutting the veins of his wrists and feet.

Inspector Basic of Prisons Brigadier General AKM Mostofa Kamal Pasha, Dhaka district civil surgeon, district magistrate and senior police officials were present through the hanging within the high security prison substance.

Law enforcing agencies said Majed was arrested from before Gabtali Bus Statnd in about 3:45 on Monday nights. He was arrested after 44 years 7 a few months and 21 days in to the killing of Bangabandhu and his members of the family.

Five members of the family of Majed including his wife met him in jail going back time early on Friday afternoon. Before hanging, every condemned convict is definitely allowed to meet her or his family members.

On Wednesday morning hours, Dhaka District and Sessions Judge M Helal Uddin Chowdhury ordered to issue death warrant of Mazed.

In the afternoon of this day, Majed delivered a mercy petition to the President. The jail authorities directed the petition to the Ministry of Residence Affairs in the afternoon. It had been later taken up to Bangabhaban where Presient Abdul Hamid rejected the petition.

Majed was the sixth army officer who was executed for the murders of then president Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and almost all of his members of the family at his No. 32 Dhanmondi home in the early hours of August 15, 1975.

One of is own two surviving daughters, Sheikh Hasina, is now the primary minister of the country.
