17 March ‘Mujib Borsho’ program to be held later
Following the detection of coronavirus cases for the very first time in Bangladesh, the year-long programmes taken up to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through the 'Mujib Borsho' have already been rearranged considering public health, reports UNB.
The grand inaugural ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations scheduled for 17 March up coming at the National Parade Ground will be held later on because of the prevailing situation around the world caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
Other celebration programmes may also be observed avoiding massive open public gatherings.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the daddy of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee at Ganobhaban in the existence of prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana.
Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, chief coordinator of the committee, made the announcement at a press briefing at the International Mom Language Institute on Sunday night.
Kamal Abdul Naser said overseas guests aren't coming for now. He, however, said different programmes will continue over summer and winter.
The government declared the period from 17 March, 2020 to 26 March, 2021 as the 'Mujib Borsho' marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu.
Year-long massive programmes have been chalked about the occasion.
Heads of government of different countries, including Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, were invited to join the celebrations.
