Anju Ghosh in Dhaka after 22 years
Anju Ghosh, the lead actor of '90s blockbuster sensation 'Beder Meye Josna,' one of the most commercially successful films in the history of Bangladesh, is now in Dhaka. Anju came to Dhaka on September 6, 22 years after her last visit here. She now lives in Kolkata.
General Secretary of the Film Artists Association and actor Zayed Khan recently posted a photo with Anju on Facebook and said that the actor is in Dhaka on invitation from the association. Zayed also told the press recently that Anju is staying with her family here.
He thinks the country's film industry still needs her presence, and that was the reason she was invited to Dhaka. Zayed Khan also said: "Anju Ghosh was scheduled to get a reception from the Artists Association at FDC on Sunday at 3pm where she talked directly to the journalists. She will then return to Kolkata on September 10."
Anju Ghosh was a singer and dancer for the Bholanath Opera in Brahmanbaria. 'Saudagar', directed by F Kabir Chowdhury, was her debut film in the industry. The film was commercially successful and Anju became a star overnight. In 1987, Anju starred in a total of 14 films, all of which were major hits. Her role of Josna in 'Beder Meye Josna' made the film a blockbuster hit and created a new national record.
During 1991, due to her failure in social films and the arrival of new actors she left the industry. After a few years, Anju left the country and started acting in Kolkata films. Recently she has been doing a regular role in a jatrapala in India's Visva Bharati Opera.
