5 get death for killing father-son
A court in Dhaka on Wednesday sentenced five persons for killing a man and his son in Keraniganj of Dhaka.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-7 Bazlur Rahman delivered the judgement in presence of three convicts.
Apart from the death sentence, the court also fined them Tk 40,000 each. In default, the convicts will have to serve five years in jail.
Under another section, the convicts were fined Tk 10,000 each. In case of failure to pay the money, they will have to serve one year more in jail.
The convicts are: Shafiqul Islam, Nazrul Islam alias Nazu, Mister alias Chhoto Mister, Arif and Masud. Of them, Arif and Masud are at large.
According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked grocer Sharif Hossain at his shop in Malpara area on the night of July 13,1993 when he refused to give them goods on credit, leaving him dead on the spot.
The convicts also hacked Sharif's two sons when they for their father's rescue that also left Sharif's son Khokon dead.
