3 to walk gallows for killing mayor's son in Gaibandha
A court in Gaibandha on Thursday sentenced three people to death for killing the son of Gabindaganj municipality mayor Ataur Rahman.
District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Deelip Kumar Bhowmik handed down the verdict.
The court also gave eight others accused five years' imprisonment and fined them Tk one lakh each.
According the prosecution, the convicts kidnapped Ataur Rahman's only one son Ashiqur Rahman Samya, 13, on September 24, 2015.
The next day, police recovered his body with his hands and legs tied up from a septic tank of Bardhankuti Battola Community Centre.
The victim's father lodged a murder case accusing 11 people where the municipality councillor Jaynal Abedin has been made the main accused.
