3 poachers held, 22 deer rescued in Bagerhat
The Forest Department in a drive early Tuesday arrested three poachers while hunting deer in the Sundarbans.
Through the dive, 22 spotted deer were also rescued from the trap in Sharankhola Range under East Sundarbans.
Thirty kgs venison, 700 feet deer hunting trap, three trawlers and a boat also seized from the location.
The arrested are: Abul Khan,42, and Sanjay Mistry,32, of Barguna, and Asadul Sheikh,25, of Khulna.
Belayet Hossain, DFO of Sundarbans East Range, said acting on secret information, the raid was conducted early Tuesday.
A case has been filed against the poachers.
They were sent to jail following a court order.
The DFO said the arrested poachers admitted that deer hunter Malek Goswami is in Tearchar area. A hunt is on to arrest him.
