'Zabardast' premiers at Alliance Française de Dhaka
Adventure film 'Zabardast' was screened at Auditorium Nouvelle Vague ofthe Alliance Française de Dhaka on Friday.
Directed by Jérôme Toran, the 54 minute film is based on an incredible free ride expedition into the heart of the Karakoram Mountain range which is a large mountain range spanning the borders of Pakistan, India and China.
During the five-week expedition group of eight adventurers goes deeper and deeper into the Karakoram Mountain which is considered to be the most hostile place on planet. The film also portrays the spirit of travelling by showcasing the travelers' point of view in seeing new country, meeting new people, their culture and lifestyle.
The director used magnificent long takes to capture the beauty of the Mountain and snow. Additionally, beautiful drone and GoPro shots were used to depict the raw essence of the challenges the adventurers went through.
During the expedition, the travelers had to pull sledges with food and mountaineering gears, tents, solar panels, and camera equipment across gigantic glaciers. Director and photographer, Jérôme Toran wrote his travel diary while travelling in trains in Pakistan. Name of the film is derived from an Urdu word which means "Superb." The film will be released on YouTube in December.
The screening event was jointly organized by Alliance Française de Dhaka, and Audree, a Mountain based adventure community of Bangladesh. When asked why they chose this film for screening, Debashish, managing editor of Audree said: "We were looking for a film that demonstrates the experience of mountain expeditions and skiing since we promote adventure activities in the country."
