Youth beaten to death in front of girlfriend in Dhaka
A youth was beaten to death in front of his girlfriend in Dhaka's Hazaribagh area on Tuesday night for protesting eve teasing.
Deceased Ariful Islam, 22, was intermediate second year student of Mohammadpur Government College. He was the son of Shahidul Islam of Barishal.
Ariful was living with his family in old Dhaka's Lalbagh area.
The deceased's girlfriend Sanjida Akter said two or three youths were teasing her when they were talking standing on Rayerbazar road around 8pm.
An altercation took place between Sajal and the youth as he protested. Sajal also slapped one of them.
Angered by this, 10/12 youths came to the spot after sometimes and started beating Sajal with bamboos, leaving him critically injured, she said.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 9:15pm.
DMCH police outpost in-charge inspector Md Bachchu Miah said the body was kept at the hospital morgue.
