Walt Disney coming back to Bangladesh to source high-end garment items: BGMEA
American entertainment giant Walt Disney Company is coming back to Bangladesh to source high-end value-added garment items around eight years after they left the country showing the cause of poor workplace safety, according to BGMEA.

"Yes, Walt Disney is coming back again to Bangladesh as we have improved our working conditions, workplace safety and compliances," said Faruque Hassan, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), today.

"A senior official of the Walt Disney Company has confirmed it to me over the phone Thursday night."

Earlier, Walt Disney Company left Bangladesh in 2013 in an excuse of poor workplace safety and poor compliance following the deadliest industrial disasters -- Rana Plaza building collapse in April 2013 and fire incident at Tazreen Fashion in November 2012.

Before leaving Bangladesh, Disney used to purchase $500million worth of garment items like sports items, jerseys, T-shirts, legging and jagging from Bangladesh, Hassan told The Daily Star.

"Now, the company again thinks that the working conditions in Bangladesh improved and decided to come back again in Bangladesh."
