Ulema meet Home Minister over sculpture concern, briefing Tuesday
Several Islamic scholars on Monday met with House Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at his residence in Dhaka to discuss the ongoing difficulty centring installation of the sculpture of Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The group led by Bangladesh Qawmi Madrasa Education Board (Befaq) chairman Maulana Mahmudul Hasan joined up with the meeting which began at 9.15pm and ended at 10.45pm. Information on the meeting will get disclosed at a briefing at Secretariat on Tuesday.

Home Ministry PR Officer (PRO) Sharif Mahmud Opu said Residence Minister will brief media about the meeting outcome tomorrow. 

The making of Bangabandhu’s sculpture in the administrative centre has stirred up controversies. On December 4, an under-construction sculpture of Bangabandhu was vandalized in Kushtia.

Earlier, on December 5, several Islamic scholars sat found in a meeting in city’s Jatrabari area with Maulana Mahmudul Hasan found in the chair. They presented five-point to resolve the crisis on installation of the sculpture Bangabandhu following a getting together with and sought a gathering with Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina to go over over the issue. 

According to source, Prime Minister assigned Residence Minsiter for meeting with ulema to go over the sculpture issue since she does not be a part of meeting directly as a result of Coronavirus pandemic.
