Thailand wants deeper economic ties with Bangladesh
Deputy Foreign Minister of Thailand Virasakdi Futrakul has expressed keen interest to deepen economic and cultural bonds with Bangladesh and lauded its robust growth and development success stories.

“Thailand looks forward to deepening economic and cultural bonds with its Bay of Bengal neighbour,” he said.

The Thai Deputy Foreign Minister made the remarks while inaugurating a two-day ‘Bangladesh Development Fair 2018’ in Bangkok on Thursday evening, said the Bangladesh Embassy there on Friday.

The Embassy is hosting the Bangladesh Development Fair 2018 in institutional partnership with the Institute for Asian Studies and the Faculty of Art and Culture of Thailand’s top ranking Chulalongkorn University. 

Thailand’s Deputy Foreign Minister Virasakdi Futrakul and Vice Minister for Culture Dr Chaweerat Kasetsoontorn attended it as guest of honour and special guest while Vice Chancellor of Chulaongkorn University Prof Bundhit Euarporn, Members of Thai Parliament, Chiefs of Thai Police and eminent academicians joined it as special guests. 

Senior Thai government officials, diplomats, academicians, businessmen, journalists from local and international media, students and a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis living in Thailand and its suburbs and Thai citizens joined the fair.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem said they have designed the fair so as to bring Bangladesh, its national history, secular and inclusive culture, the extraordinary economic growth and social develop achievements of people and the government closer to the common Thai people and the Thai media. 

“We hope more Thai people will get impressed by Bangladesh, take interest and visit Bangladesh following their exposure to the Bangladesh story in the Development Fair.”
