Argentina fan dies of heart attack
RAJSHAHI: An Argentina football enthusiast allegedly died of heart attack while screaming in joy following his team's victory in a match against Nigeria in 2018 World Cup at Mahaldarpara area of Rajshahi early Wednesday (June 27).
The deceased was identified as Selim Hossain, 45.
Locals and relatives of the deceased said Selim and others were enjoying the football match on a big screen on Tuesday night. When Argentina scored the second goal as the sign of their victory, Selim burst into joy and at one stage, he fell down. Later, he was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Boalia Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Aman Ullah said, “We have been informed that an Argentina football fan died in cardiac arrest. Police were not sent to the spot as the matter involved no crime.”
