Teesta flowing 50cm above danger level
Water level of the Teesta River is flowing 50cm above its danger mark because of heavy downpour and onrush of water coming from upstream over the last few days.
Water inundated the Lalmonirhat town after breaking the dam, resulting in a catastrophic situation.
At 6 am on Saturday (July 13), Teesta water flow was recorded at 53:04 cm at Teesta Barrage of Dalia point.
On Friday (July 12), it was 35cm at 6 pm, 44cm at 9 pm. Water level rose at mid night.
People living along the shore of the Teesta River were advised to use caution.
According to Dalia barrage authorities, since Teesta was flowing above danger level in India, a gate a barrage was opened, which resulted in the rise of water flow.
