Suspected drug trader killed in 'shootout'
A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur early Tuesday.

Deceased Zahir Uddin Zokka, 42, was accused in several drug cases, and resident of Charkajhikandi village in the upazila, said sources in RAB-8.

RAB arrested Zahir from North Charaikandi in the upazila. Then, they along with held Zahir conducted a drive in the area to nab other drug dealers. 

Sensing presence of the elite force, the drug traders opened fire on RAB, prompting them to fire back that triggered a gun battle.

Later, RAB recovered the bullet-hit body of Zahir from the spot and sent it to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue.
