Shaukat Mahmud among 8 BNP leaders get bail
Eight BNP leaders including Shaukat Mahmud have secured eight months bail in a case filed over attack on police and vandalise vehicles in front of the High Court.
The two-member HC bench, led by Justice Jahangir Hossain, passed the order after the bail hearing.
On November 26, BNP and its front organisations staged demonstration and sit-in in the HC area demanding release of jailed party chief Khaleda Zia.
A chase and counter chase took place between the BNP men and police.
At one stage, the law enforcers lobbed tear gas shells to disperse them. The agitators then threw brick chips aiming to the policemen.
Police, however, filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station at night accusing some 500 BNP leaders and activists including Mirza Fakhrul.
