Road accidents, deaths rise in 2019
The number of road accidents and deaths rise in 2019 than that of the previous year, according to the report given by Nirapad Sarak Chai (Nischa).
At least 5,227 people were killed in 4,702 road crashes while 6,953 injured last year.
Ilias Kanchan, chairman of the Nischa, disclosed this at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Saturday after collecting information from media reports and daily newspapers.
He said, "The number of road accidents decreased in 2017 after taking different initiatives following the students' movement. But it did not reach its aim."
