Regent Hospital scam: Shahed’s aide Tariqul remanded
A Dhaka court has placed Tariqul Islam alias Tareq Shibli, a key aide to Mohammad Shahed, owner of Regent Hospital, on a five-day time remand in a case filed over issuing artificial coronavirus check certificates and collecting cash from patients.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order on Friday (July 10) following the investigation officer of the circumstance Md Alamgir Gazi, an inspector at Uttara west police station, produced him before the courtroom with a seven-evening remand plea.
Tariqul Islam was arrested by people of Rapid Actions Battalion (RAB) from Dhaka’s Nakhalpara area about Thursday (July 9).
Previously July 8, A Dhaka granted five-evening remand for seven accused in the case including admin and technologists of Regent Hospital.
The remanded accused are- Regent Hospital admin Ahsan Habib, X-Ray technician Ahsan Habib Hasan, Medical technologist Hatim Ali, hq admin Rakibul Islam, HR admin Amit Banik, driver Abdus Salam and executive officer Abdur Rashid Khan.
On July 7, a mobile court of RAB carried out a travel in Regent Hospital in Uttara and sealed off two branches and its own head office. Later, RAB as well filed a circumstance with Uttara west law enforcement station against Regent Medical center for issuing artificial Covid 19 certificates and deceiving patients.
In the event, RAB named 17 accused including Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed as the prime accused.
