Probe into Brahmanbaria funeral mass gathering begins
Members of the high-level committee formed to probe the flocking of men and women at the funeral prayer of Khelafat Majlish Senior Nayebe Ameer Maulana Jubayer Ahmed Ansari have begun their investigation.
Three members of the committee headed by the excess DIG of Chattogram Range Md Iqbal Hossain visited Jamia Rahmania Bertala Madrasa premises on Sunday evening. In addition they talked to residents.
Later, Md Iqbal Hossain told journalists that they started investigation. "We'll speak to many people, and accumulate information. After analysing those, we'll manage to know specifically what had happened," he said.
Replying to a question, he said: "It's difficult to tell anything at this time. We've talked to local villagers. They said persons came here from adjacent villages to become listed on namaj-e-janaza. We'll manage to tell details down the road."
Md Iqbal Hossain, however, declined to state anything more. However, he's scheduled to submit inquiry report by April 22.
Through the visit, Chattogram Additional Police Super Pankaj Kumar and Brahmanbaria Additional Police Super Md Alamgir Hossain, local police officials were present.
Maulana Jubayer Ahmed Ansari died at his Markaspara residence in Brahmanbaria town at 5:45pm on Friday. After namaj-e-janaza on the following morning, he was buried at Jamia Rahmania Bertala Madrasa premises under Sarail upazila.
