President seeks Indonesian support for Rohingya repatriation
DHAKA: President Abdul Hamid sought help from Indonesia to send back the lakhs of displaced Rohingya refugees to their homes in Myanmar.
He made the call at a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo, at Bangabhaban on Saturday evening (January 27).
Abdul Hamid lauded Indonesia for their role at the United Nations, for solving Rohingya crisis.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo hailed Bangladesh for sheltering the Rohingyas.
Joko expressed his hope that the Bangladesh-Myanmar deal for Rohingya repatriation will be fruitful and the Myanmar nationals would be able to return to their own country.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and State Minister Shahriar Alam were present in the meeting.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in Dhaka Saturday in a two-day visit.
President Abdul Hamid welcomed him at the airport.
Later, Abdul Hamid arranged a diner in honor of Joko in the evening.
