DUJA slates attack on journalists at DU
Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) on Saturday protested against the attacks on journalists on the DU campus on January 23.
The protest came in a statement issued by DUJA President Asif Taasin and general secretary Mahmudul Hasan Nayon on Saturday following a decision taken at an executive committee meeting on Friday night, reports UNB.
According to the statement, eight journalists from different media, including DUJA Vice-president Mir Arshadul Hoque and treasurer Abdul Karim, came under the attack when they went to cover the attack on protesting students by BCL men on January 23.
Earlier, about 10 journalists also came under attack during their professional duty in the DU campus area in the last two months, the statement said.
"Such kinds of incidents are occurring repeatedly as the authorities concerned have not taken steps against the attackers," it said.
