Bangladesh concede 79-run defeat
Bangladesh conceded a humiliating 79-run defeat in the tri-nation series final as they managed to score 142 runs after 41.1 overs in response to Sri Lanka’s 221.
Mahmudullah's unbeaten 76 went in vain as the other batsmen of Bangladesh side could not create any resistance. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun were the rest two batsmen who touched the double figure scoring 22 and 10 runs respectively.
Earlier, visiting Sri Lanka elected to bat first after winning the toss in the final of the triangular ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
WU Tharanga scored 56 runs while LD Chandimal and N Dickwella added 45 and 42 runs respectively to Sri Lanka innings.
Rubel Hossain picked up four wickets while Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets to restrict the visitors.
Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Mohammad Saifuddin bagged one wickets each.
