PM: Housing as well for all those losing homes in natural calamities
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said the federal government will arrange casing for those losing their homes found in flood and riverbank erosion alongside rehabilitating the landless and homeless persons across the country.

"This time around the flood looks to be serious... more floods are likely to happen in August and September. We've preparations to handle these. We'll likewise arrange accommodation and lands for all those burning off their homes in flood or river erosion," she said.

The Primary Minister said this while opening the special structures built under 'Khurushkul Ashrayan Job' in Cox's Bazar for 600 climate refugees, reports UNB.

Sheikh Hasina inaugurated 20 five-storey structures constructed in the first period of the world's major climate refugee rehabilitation task at Khurushkul on the outskirts of Cox's Bazar through a videoconference from her official home Ganobhaban.

The 600 families are getting their fresh abodes with all modern facilities in 20 structures, each having 32 flats, constructed on the lender of the Bakkhali River, just three kilometres away the beach town.

At the inaugural function, some beneficiaries were handed over the keys of the 456-square foot flats.

The Primary Minister said the federal government is taking measures for the rehabilitation of landless and homeless persons throughout the country.

"Found in the birth centenary of the daddy of the country, our aim is that not really a single person in Bangladesh would remain homeless," she explained adding that the federal government will arrange house for every person.

Hasina said Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had a good dream that Bangladesh will be a hunger- and poverty-free region and her authorities is on the monitor to satisfy this dream.

About the Khurushkul Ashrayan Project, she said another town will be developed in a nice manner at the project site. A network clinic and dry seafood market may also be built there, she said.

All thenewly-constructedstructures include a ramp program for people with disabilities, solar power panels, safe normal water, electricity, sanitation, waste supervision, drainage, cylinder gas and burner.

A complete of 4,409 families of climate refugees will be rehabilitated at the website as 139 five-storey structures beneath the Khurushkul Ashrayan scheme getting applied by Bangladesh Army on 253.59 acres of land spending Tk 1800 crore within the Ashrayan Project-2.

Because the Ashrayan (Providing Home) Job was launched in 1997, Khurushkul scheme may be the country's largest rehabilitation job. The Khurushkul project could have four zones - residential, tourism, dry seafood processing area or 'shutki mahal' and a buffer precinct with greenery.

Its beneficiaries are actually mostly the victims of the 1991 devastating cyclone that forced them to take on refuge in crammed shanties found in Cox's Bazar airport location for several decades.

The ground floors of the brand new buildings have already been kept vacant to ensure that floodwater and tidal surge can damage nothing. Additionally, there are tube-wells and rainwater harvesting program.

Later, the Prime Minister exchanged views with beneficiaries of the job and neighborhood dignitaries through the videoconference.

A training video presentation over the job was screened at the function.

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed as well spoke in the function moderated by PM's Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus.

Principal Personnel Officer of the MILITARY Division Lieutenant Standard Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman and senior officials of the Primary Minister's Business office were present about the occasion.
