Ex-Sylhet mayor Kamran dies of coronavirus
Former Sylhet City Company (SCC) mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran died of COVID-19 at a medical center in Dhaka at early hours on Monday. He was 69.

He breathed his last about 2:30am at Combined Military Medical center (CMH) where he was undergoing treatment, his son doctor Arman Ahmed Shiplu confirmed about 3:30am.

Kamran, a member of the central executive committee of Awami Group, was flown to the CMH from Sylhet on June 7 after his health deteriorated.

He was found positive for the deadly virus on June 5 and was admitted to Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Medical center in Sylhet the very next day.

His wife Asma Kamran tested coronavirus great on May 27.

Kamran left out wife, two sons, a good daughter and a host of family members and well-wisher to mourn in his death.

He was the first elected mayor of Sylhet City Company and he was elected mayor twice.

Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow in his death.

Besides, Dhaka South Metropolis Corporation (DSCC) mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Dhaka North Metropolis Corporation (DNCC) mayour Atiqul Islam also expressed their shock in Kamran's death.

Deputy Innovator of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury also expressed her deep shock in the loss of life of the ex - mayor.
