No ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route tonight
The ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route in the Padma river will remain closed on Sunday night due to ongoing dredging work for overcoming navigability crisis.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Kathalbari ferry ghat sources on Sunday (August 26) told Banglanews that the ferry service will remain close from 8pm on Sunday to 5am on Monday.
Ferry service on this route has been disrupted repeatedly since Friday due to navigability crisis. Finally, the authority has decided to suspend ferry operation for the night to avert any accidents.
Kathalbari ferry ghat manager Abdus Salam Mia told Banglanews that transport liners were directed to use different ferry routes as no ferry will ply on this route tonight.
