Mukabbir demands fresh election
Claiming that people have questions about the 11th parliamentary elections held on December 30 last, Gonoforum MP Mukabbir Khan on Wednesday demanded an immediate fresh national election so that all can exercise their voting rights.

"I on behalf of Gonoforum want to say unequivocally that there're questions in people's minds regarding the election. So, my first demand to the Prime Minister is to arrange such a general election immediately where all irrespective of political identities and views can cast their votes without fear," Mukabbir said in his maiden speech in Parliament, reports UNB.

The Gonoforum MP said now it is time for soul-searching as to why it had been possible to arrange an election like the December-30 one and who have how much liability for it.

Mukabbir, who was elected from Sylhet-2 constituency, also demanded formation of an investigation committee to trace missing BNP leader M Ilias Ali who was former MP from the same constituency.

About BNP's imprisoned chairperson Khaleda Zia, Mukabbir demanded taking measures for her proper treatment. "Conscious people of the country got hurt as she (Khaleda) has not got proper treatment. I believe if measures are taken for her treatment, it'll reflect generosity of Bangabandhu's daughter (Sheikh Hasina)," the MP said.

Meanwhile, several ruling and opposition MPs demanded that the Speaker should fix a day in the current session of parliament to discuss the brutal killing of madrasha student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, other social diseases, particularly militancy, child and sex abuse, and corruption.

Mohammad Nasim, Tofail Ahmed and Mayeen Uddin Khan Badal, Workers Party MP Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal MP Hasanul Haq Inu and main opposition Jatiya Party MP Rustum Ali Faraji, among others, placed the demand while speaking on the point of order in the House.
