Mitu denied bail over CMCH doctor’s death
A district court rejected bail petition of Tanjila Haque Choudhury Mitu in a case filed over death of CMCH doctor Mustafa Murshed Akash.
Judge of Metropolitan Session Judge Court of Chattogram Akbar Hossain Mridha rejected Mitu’s bail on Sunday (April 7).
“Lawyers submitted a petition seeking bail for Tanjila Haque Choudhury Mitu, but the state objected to it. The court rejected her bail plea after holding a hearing,” Metropolitan Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Fakhruddin Chowdhury told Banglanews.
Mostafa Morshed Akash, a doctor of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), committed suicide over family feud in Chandgaon residential area of Chattogram city on January 31 of last year.
Before committing suicide, Akash went live on Facebook, sharing photos, screenshots of conversations of his wife and writing about her alleged extramarital affairs.
Police arrested Mitu from a residence of the city on the night of January 31.
She has been serving her sentence in prison since then.
Later, a case was filed with Chandgaon Police Station accusing six persons, including wife Tanjila Haque Choudhury Mitu, on February 1.
