Miraz opens up about his journey to learning to be a cricketer
Young Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz relayed his journey to starting to be an international cricketer overcoming early struggles and doubts within his traditional family.
In his debut series, Miraz starred in Bangladesh’s maiden Test win against England in 2016, at the Mirpur Stadium in Dhaka. He was adjudged as gentleman of the series usually for his performances with the ball as an off-spinner in the drawn 2-Test series.
Today he is virtually a regular found in the Tigers set-up, a long cry from his formative years coming from a poor category of Khulna. His father always insisted he review harder instead of passing time playing cricket. But Mehidy was motivated not merely to play the overall game he loved, but also earn a living out of it.
“My father had always been reluctant to find me as a good cricketer. He previously no idea about the life span of a successful cricketer. He previously no idea how renowned the countrywide cricketers are or just how much they earn. So that it was challenging for me personally to play cricket within my early days. But nonetheless, I managed to play in the age-level tournaments which provided me the confidence to keep playing the game I love most,” Mehidy narrated, during a virtual chat with Noman Mohammad, a sports journalist.
“My path to learning to be a cricketer changedgot a turning point during an U-14 tournament this year 2010, which occurred on Mymensingh. I was adjudged the best player in the event, and the ultimate was witnessed by then-BCB president Mustafa Kamal,” Mehidy, 22, added.
BCB awarded Tk 25,000 each to the best three cricketers of this event, and the very best cricketers were invited to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to watch a Check between Bangladesh and England. Combined with the little cricketers, their father and mother were also invited compared to that event.
“My dad was presented in the gallery of Sher-e-Bangla. After enjoying a Test meet in the largest venue in the united states, my dad was convinced to permit me to play cricket. He was pleased to start to see the environment of a global meet. I was handed the Tk 25,000-prize throughout that match and ICC president was as well present at the stadium. It was a wonderful honour for me personally and most of us,” the all-rounder reflected.
After good displays in domestic age-level cricket, Mehidy secured a location in the age-level national team. He led the junior Tigers in the ICC U-19 Environment Cup 2016 which took place in Bangladesh. Under Mehidy’s leadership, the Adolescent Tigers played an excellent make of cricket throughout, till their elimination in the semifinal level against eventual champions West Indies.
A good hallmark of Mehidy’s occurrence on the discipline that Bangladesh followers possess recognised from the start is his intelligent cricketing human brain. He as well exhibits maturity and calmness beyond his years. These qualities tag him out as a future leader, given that his video game keeps developing.
Mehidy scalped 12 wickets, six found in each innings, and guided the Tigers with their maiden Test success against England. At that time, the 12/159 he took for the reason that Test were the very best by a Bangladesh bowler in a Check match.
That record still belongs to Mehidy, but having bettered it since, by firmly taking 12/117 in a Test against the West Indies in 2018.
