Khaleda Zia's family awaits permission, decision on Sunday
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family is currently awaiting the government's permission to take her abroad for advanced treatment.

Though the family has recently taken all types of preparations to take her abroad, it hasn't received the government's permission till Saturday night.

However, Law Minister Anisul Huq said the government's decision to take Khaleda Zia abroad will be known on Sunday.

The Law Minister said a file will be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday with the thoughts and opinions whether there are any scope of relaxing the conditions when planning on taking Khaleda Zia abroad.

"It might not be possible to send the file as there were no officials and employees present at his ministry since it was a weekly holiday on Saturday. Therefore the file with all necessary documents along with legal opinions will be delivered to the house Ministry on Sunday morning. THE HOUSE Ministry will need steps according to the Law Ministry's opinion," he said.

Asked what opinions regulations Ministry has given, Anisul Huq said, "THE HOUSE Ministry itself  will inform what thoughts and opinions we've given."

Physicians said on Saturday that the physical condition of Khaleda Zia, now undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the administrative centre, remained unchanged. A member of the medical board formed to supervise her treatment said Khaleda was also given oxygen on Saturday as  she still needs the oxygen support as her saturation level still fluctuates because of post-Covid-19 complications. However, rather than 3 to 4 litres, she was given one or two litres of oxygen. She could take food, and saline was going on. Water has been accumulated in the membrane of her lungs. Though it was appeared alarming, nothing was found after examining her. Perhaps, water is accumulated because of a particular fault in the heart. However, the physician said her heart is functioning better now.

The physician said the BNP chief's blood sugar level is steadily coming under control as the pain in her joints has relieved substantially. If the trend of improvement in her condition continues, then Khaleda can fly abroad soon.

Meanwhile, a BNP senior leader said they have a positive signal from the federal government to send her abroad for advanced treatment.

He said all the necessary preparations have already been taken up to take Khaleda to London or Singapore.

The BNP leader said Khaleda Zia might leave the united states either on Sunday night or the next day if her condition will not deteriorate again. "She'll be taken to Singapore rather than London, if her condition worsens."

He also said Khaleda’s brother Shamim Iskander and his wife Kaniz Fatema and her domestic help Fatema will accompany the BNP chief during her travel abroad.
