'Highways of Life' calls for top prize
South Asia's initial virtual film festival, the '8th Liberation DocFest Bangladesh-2020' concluded on Saturday having drawn an excellent response from film lovers in the home and abroad by giving a breathing space for all amid the coronavirus pandemic, reports UNB.
The five-day-much time festival, organized annually by the Liberation War Museum, wrapped up with a concluding and award-giving ceremony via Zoom. The closing ceremony was attended in virtual space by legendary thespian and ex - Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP, Ministry of Liberation Battle Affairs Secretary Aminul Islam Khan, President of International Theatre Institute (ITI) and noted theatre individuality RamenduMajumdar, cultural persona and Chairman of Dhaka DocLabNasiruddin Yusuf Bacchu, press partner United Media of Bangladesh's Director Nahar Khan, festival director Tareq Ahmed and Liberation Battle Museum Trustee MofidulHoque, quite definitely the driving drive behind the organization, along with participating filmmakers, jury board customers and the organizers.
"The 8th Liberation DocFest-2020 has made a new idea about how to consolidate our durability in this unfortunate time of the ongoing global pandemic. This was a tremendous event organised by the Liberation War Museum using its main concentrate on our Father of the country, Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman as 'Bangabandhu: the Liberator' and other superb leaders - and I really believe when the crisis leads to future, we will encounter again and celebrate new ideas and movies," Noor explained commenting on the event.
Secretary to the Liberation Battle Affairs Ministry Aminul Islam Khan appreciated the individuals and the organizers from your home and overseas, saying, "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman said "Nothing can stop us from doing good stuff" - and through the entire festival, this was tested by all of the enthusiastic filmmakers-visitors and organizers."
He said it was a pleasure to visit a large numbers of young and energetic thoughts be a part of this year's DocFest showing great enthusiasm for the annals of Bangladesh.Speakers and organizers expressed their heartiest gratitude to the festival's organizing partner Cosmos Foundation and press partner United Information of Bangladesh (UNB) because of their support in both arrangement and operation of the year's festival.
Nahar Khan, Director of UNB and Vice President of Cosmos Group said, "It had been truly a wonderful chance of UNB and Cosmos Basis to be the Media and Organizing Spouse respectively of the first-ever nearly hosted film festival in South Asia."
"My heartiest congratulations to our magnificent digital team, all of the filmmakers, organizers, volunteers and the Liberation Battle Museum to make this event such a exceptional success. Festival Director Tareq Ahmed said a total of 1800 films were submitted in the 8th DocFest till later March and 200 were decided on from the list till previous April. And finally, a complete of 83 movies were screened through the entire five-day festival.
Concluding the ceremony and the 8th edition of the Liberation DocFest-2020, Trustee of Liberation battle Museum MofidulHoque thanked every participating filmmakers who was included with the perseverance to overcome the task of life through bringing trust in the darkness.
"Filmmakers from a lot more than 50 countries joined found in this first-ever nearly hosted film festival in South Asia - that is a very significant achievement for all of us all. In this unprecedented and unthinkable time of the ongoing global pandemic of COVID-19, the festival became an international example that may carry forwards the solidarity of the globe," he said.
Thanking the Cosmos Foundation and UNB, Hoque stated Cosmos Foundation and UNB always arrive forward to aid the Liberation Battle Museum and because of their tremendous assist, the festival became a global standard event of documentary films.
Hoque also mentioned that the event was the main birth centenary celebrations of Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman and then year it'll be celebrating the 50 years anniversary of Bangladesh's Independence.
