General holiday declared on 10 district areas labeling them as 'Red Zones'
The federal government has declared general holidays in various regions of 10 districts of the country, labeling them as 'Red Zones' which pose serious risks to public health as a result of spread of novel coronavirus infection.
Ministry of People Administration issued a gazette notification after Sunday midnight declaring basic holidays in debt Zone areas in those ten districts.
The ten districts are Chattogram, Narayanganj, Bogura, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Cumilla, Munshiganj, Jessore, Madaripur and Chuadanga.
Based on the gazette notification, the general holiday will be relevant to all the federal government and private office buildings in the areas beneath the Red Zones.
All the staff members, who are people of Red Zones, will also have to stay in their respective houses during the general holiday.
The gazette notification says that none will be permitted to enter or exit from the 'Red Zone' areas in those districts during the lockdown for 21 times to avoid further spread of the virus. All retailers, except those retailing essentials will remain closed in those areas.
The government has declared general holidays in debt Zone designated section of the districts since it considers them 'virus hotspots' posing serious threat to public lifestyle, said sources at the National Technical Committee formed to tackle the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The sources said lockdown in Red Zones will be enforced in various other districts in phases.
On June 1, the government decided to divide the complete nation into three zones - crimson yellow and green - based on the amount of Covid-19 conditions in different areas. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided on the zoning system and approved it.
At midnight in June 9, an "experimental" lockdown on the capital's East Rajabazar was set up as the quantity of cases rose there. A stringent lockdown continued for the fifth time until Sunday. People's motion was tightly monitored as volunteers and laws enforcers placed a log of people exiting from and getting into the area.
Drawing on the experience of lockdown in East Rajabazar in Dhaka metropolis, the federal government upgraded its approach and operational procedures in debt Zones.
